GRANT GUIDELINES
Overview
Created out of a devoted love for dogs and a strong desire for ALL dogs to live a long, healthy and happy life, the Three Dog Bakery Foundation serves as a means to raise awareness of and support for dogs in need. Three Dog Bakery’s commitment to the health and happiness of dogs extends beyond the bakery kitchen – it happens at the cash register. Three Dog Bakery donates up to 1% of annual net profits to help support the Three Dog Bakery Foundation.
Areas of Focus
The Three Dog Bakery Foundation will consider applications from 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving dogs in need throughout the United States.

Preferences
- The Foundation has a particular interest in supporting organizations that provide services to dogs in distress.
- Preference is given to organizations that focus on finding loving homes for dogs, and/or provide free or low cost spay and neutering services.
- Special consideration is given to organizations that have a no kill policy in place.
Grant Requirements and Restrictions
The Three Dog Bakery Foundation will consider making grants to support the general operations of 501(c)(3) public charities within the areas of interest listed above.

The Three Dog Bakery Foundation will not provide funding for:
- Individuals
- Special Events
- Religious organizations, unless they are engaged in a significant project that is nonsectarian and benefits a broad base in the community
- Social, labor, veterans, alumni or fraternal organizations
- Recreational sporting events or athletic teams
- Political causes, candidates or legislative lobbying efforts
- Past operating deficits, travel or conferences
Grant Range
The Three Dog Bakery Foundation will consider grant requests up to $5,000. In general, grants will range from $3,000 – $5,000.

Reporting Requirements
Charitable organizations that are awarded a grant from The Three Dog Bakery Foundation will be required to submit a final report to on a form provided by Greater Horizons at the end of the grant period. This report will include a description of the programs or services supported by grant fund. Recipient organizations will be required to provide all paperwork requested by Payless to comply with Internal Revenue Code requirements. Recipient organizations will also be requested to share stories of one or more dogs helped through the use of grant funds, including photos and a corresponding waiver or release when appropriate. It is understood that from time to time it will not be possible to share client information due to privacy concerns, and an organization's ability to comply with this request will not be a factor in the selection of recipients.

Winter Round
The application deadline will be 5:00 p.m. CST on February 25, 2011
Applicants will be notified of the Three Dog Bakery Foundation’s decisions in writing by April 15, 2011.
Spring Round

Summer Round
The application deadline will be 5:00 p.m. CST on August 25, 2011
Applicants will be notified of the Three Dog Bakery Foundation’s decisions in writing by October 15, 2011.
Fall Round
The application deadline will be 5:00 p.m. CST on November 15, 2011
Applicants will be notified of the Three Dog Bakery Foundation’s decisions in writing by January 15, 2012.
