Corporate Giving and Philanthropy

Charitable giving can happen anywhere – at home, on the street or even on the job. Giving in the workplace is especially important in this day and age when, it seems, every week a new study shows that companies with philanthropic programs have happier employees (thus improving employee-retention rates) and happier consumers (boosting the bottom line).

As you may have read in a recent Giving Better Blog post, “Giving in the Boardroom,” non-financial reporting, or sustainability reporting, is crucial during economically and legally challenging times.

The Board of Directors at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation (including its non-regional brand, Greater Horizons) has long understood the value of corporate social responsibility, doing good, giving back or whatever term you choose. Surprised? Probably not. After all, giving is our business.

At the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and Greater Horizons, we are always looking for new ways to incorporate giving into our everyday lives. Since a large percentage of our time is spent in one of our offices, we’ve been piloting the Workplace that Gives Back, a socially conscious office of tomorrow.
